Sedation Dentistry

For some people, a trip to the dentist is a very stressful time. Dental phobia and fear of pain are not uncommon in dental patients. For people who need help relaxing in the dentist's chair, sedation dentistry is available.

  • Oral Sedation

Taken 30 minutes to an hour before your procedure on the day of the appointment, oral sedatives will relax you, cause some drowsiness, and in some cases, patients will be in and out of sleep, as well as some degree of memory loss.

  • IV Sedation

This effective, safe method causes little or no discomfort and often little or no memory of the procedure. Patients will be in an induced and carefully monitored sleep while the procedures are being comfortably completed.

  • Nitrous Oxide

“Laughing gas” is inhaled through a mask to relax, with a local anesthetic used to eliminate pain. Patients are fully conscious while using nitrous oxide, but are typically very relaxed.
